    What are tungsten carbide balls and seats?

    In a typical ball-and-seat valve interface, the ball must repeatedly seal against the seat while fluid and particles pass through. In abrasive service, the usual failure path is simple: the sealing geometry changes (micro-wear, erosion, embedment), leakage grows, and efficiency drops. Cemented tungsten carbide is selected because it can be engineered to resist abrasion and erosive cutting while keeping useful toughness for cyclic contact.
